Learnathon 2013 For The Philippines Relief

The Pro Bono Services Office is an initiative by the Law Society of Singapore to help bring free legal assistance to those in need in our community. It is part of the Law Society’s stated mission to ensure access to justice for all.

Born from a collaborative commitment by the Singaporean legal profession in 2006 to donate at least 25 hours per lawyer per year towards pro bono work, we were officially launched on 10 September 2007 to manage and develop all of the Law Society’s pro bono programmes.

The Law Society of Singapore has a membership of over 3,500 members. The pro bono pledge of 25 hours per lawyer per year translates into a potential bank of more than 80,000 pro bono hours to invest for the good of the community in Singapore.

Our role includes the development of new programmes into which this bank of pro bono hours can be invested.

In 2007, our initiative was conferred the status of a Charity (Charity Registration No. T07CC2064L) and approved Institution of Public Character (IPC Registration No. IPC 000571).

Our work is supported by our volunteers who give generously and selflessly of their time and expertise for the needy in our community and financially by contributions from individual lawyers, law practices, private donations and key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Law, the Subordinate Courts, the Singapore Academy of Law and various community partners.
